‘হাওয়াগাড়ি’ নিয়ে আস্ত একটা বই। এ-ধরনের কাজ প্রায় দেখা যায় না। তরুণ গোস্বামীর জন্ম কলকাতায়। ছোটোবেলা থেকেই তরুণের গাড়ির শখ। যত বয়স বেড়েছে পুরোনো গাড়ির কথা জানার ইচ্ছা তাঁকে পেয়ে বসেছে। চাকরিজীবনে ‘দ্য স্টেটসম্যান’ পত্রিকার সঙ্গে যুক্ত হওয়ার ফলে পরিচিত হয়েছেন ভিন্টেজ এবং ক্লাসিক গাড়ির মালিকদের সঙ্গে। তাঁদের কাছ থেকে জেনেছেন কীভাবে পুরোনো গাড়ি সারাতে হয়, যত্ন করতে হয়।
পুরোনো গাড়ির জগৎটাই আলাদা। পিতৃবন্ধু ঁবি এন ভট্টাচার্য তাঁর বিশাল আমেরিকান গাড়িগুলো দেখিয়ে বলতেন, “দেখেছ আজ ওদের মন ভালো আছে: তাই কেমন হাসছে।” প্রথম প্রথম না বুঝলেও পরে বুঝেছিলেন ভিন্টেজ কার মালিকদের কাছে অযান্ত্রিকেরা এই পৃথিবীর একজন। তাদের প্রাণ আছে, সুখ-দুঃখের বোধ আছে, পথে চলার সময় হঠাৎ ব্রেক কষলে বা খানাখন্দে পড়লে তাদের লাগে। এই অনন্য দুনিয়াতে যে একবার প্রবেশ করেছে সে প্রেমে পড়ে গেছে এই জগদ্দলদের।
