গত পঞ্চাশ বছরে বিশ্বের নানা প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক সাহিত্য পঠনপাঠনের জায়গায় একটি প্রত্যয় দানা বাঁধছে যে, সাহিত্যের নানা শাখাকে অকুলীন আখ্যা দিয়ে অপাঙক্তেয় করে রাখার কোনো যুক্তি নেই; বরং, রচিত তাবৎ সাহিত্যের সমগ্রতাকে ইতিহাসে অন্তর্ভুক্তি তার অংশবিশেষকে বুঝতে বেশি সাহায্য করবে। পাঠকের সঙ্গে সাহিত্যের ও রচয়িতার সম্পর্ককেও, যা আজ সাহিত্যপাঠের জরুরি অংশ। বাংলা গোয়েন্দাসাহিত্য সম্পর্কে গবেষণাকে তাই গ্রন্থাকারে পাঠকের হাতে তুলে দিচ্ছি সেই প্রত্যয় থেকে।
