যিশু খ্রিস্টের জীবন অবলম্বনে প্রথম বাংলা উপন্যাস ‘খ্রিস্ট’। তাঁর জীবনী বাংলায় অনেকবার লেখা হয়েছে। তাঁকে নিয়ে প্রথম উপন্যাস এই লেখা হল। যিশু নামে এই যে একজন মানুষ গত ২০০০ বছর ধরে মানুষের ভক্তি, অভক্তি, আকর্ষণ, বিকর্ষণের কেন্দ্র হয়ে আছেন, তাঁর জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড়ো ট্র্যাজিডি হল, যে, মানুষ হিসাবে তিনি অতুলনীয়, সেই মানুষের বদলে তাঁকে ঈশ্বর বানানো হল, যে-রোমানদের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর সংগ্রাম ছিল, সেই রোমানদের দেওয়া পরিচয়ই তাঁর সমগ্র জীবনকে আড়াল করে দিল। একজন বিপ্লবী শেষ অবধি ব্যবহৃত হয়ে গেলেন রোমান সম্রাট কনস্ট্যানটিন আর সম্রাট-জননীর দ্বারা। আমাদের শেষ অবধি সেই রোমানদের হাত থেকেই যিশুকে গ্রহণ করতে হয় যারা তাঁকে ক্রুশে দিয়েছিল, যারা এক বিপুল পরিকল্পনার মাধ্যমে তাঁর যাবতীয় রক্তমাখা অর্জনকে নষ্ট করে দিয়েছে।
