এই বইয়ের সমস্ত লেখাই আসলে এক-একটি উচ্চকিত, অস্বস্তিকর প্রশ্ন। যে-সময়বৃত্তে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি আমরা সকলে সেখানে এই প্রশ্নগুলি আমাদের ভাবতে বাধ্য করে। শাসকের খামখেয়ালি নিষ্ঠুরতা, নির্লজ্জ দায়িত্বহীনতাকে বেনকাব করে। মারি-মড়কের ইতিহাস অনুসন্ধান, শাহিনবাগের মেয়েদের লড়াই, কৃষক আন্দোলনের পাঠ বা প্রান্তজন চর্চায় ঋত্বিক ঘটকের অধিকার আপাতভাবে পৃথক বিষয় কিন্তু সমস্ত বিষয়ই বিন্যাসই পরিশেষে অপরজনের হয়ে সওয়াল করে, তাদের সঙ্গে পায়ে পা মিলিয়ে হাঁটতে চায়। এই অপরজন সব সময়ে গাণিতিক বিচারে ‘সংখ্যালঘু’ নন, বলা ভালো বিজয়ী সংখ্যাগুরুতন্ত্রে ‘ইতরজন’। এই মানুষগুলো নিজভূমে ‘পরিযায়ী’, কখনো নির্মাণকর্মী, কখনো ‘ফুড ডেলিভারি-বয়’ তকমা পাওয়া কেউ। পরিচিতির গ্লানি, খরতাপে পথ হাঁটার অনিঃশেষ যন্ত্রণা, ক্ষোভ ধরা আছে দুই মলাটের ভিতর।
