সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া এই গ্রহের শুধু আর্থ-সামাজিক-বৌদ্ধিক জগতের আমূল পরিবর্তন সাধিত করেনি, সেইসঙ্গে সে তৈরি করে ফেলেছে নিজস্ব এক ভাষাজগৎ। নিত্য সে তার নব নব বিষয় ও ভাবনাকে প্রকাশ করতে চায় শর্টকাট পদ্ধতিতে। কত কম সময়ে কত বেশি বলা যায় তাই যেন ইউজারদের কাছে একটি চ্যালেঞ্জ। ফলে ভাষাজগতে আবির্ভাব ঘটে চলেছে মনের ভাব প্রকাশের নিত্যনতুন কৌশল। কথ্যভাষার সঙ্গে শুধু নয়, লেখ্যভাষার অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রের সঙ্গেও তাই সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার লেখ্যভাষার প্রকৌশলে ঘটে যাচ্ছে প্রভেদ। যেই প্রভেদকে নানান দিক থেকে অসংখ্য দৃষ্টান্তের মাধ্যমে সমাজভাষিক দৃষ্টিতে বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে এই গ্রন্থে।
সঙ্গে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া ব্যবহারের সূচক থেকে আমাদের সমাজের নানান শ্রেণিবিভেদ যথা— নারী-পুরুষ, গ্রামীণ-শহুরে, যুবা-প্রৌঢ় প্রভৃতি বৈষম্য কীভাবে প্রকটিত হয়ে ওঠে আধুনিক জীবনযাপনের সুবিধালাভের নিরিখে তাও দেখানো হয়েছে।
