ভারত-বাংলাদেশ বর্ডার সীমানায় নদীভাঙনে সৃষ্ট চর লবণগোলা; এক ডুবো-সূর্য সময় নাগরিকত্ব বিল নিয়ে সেখানে ধেয়ে আসে এক মারণ ঝড়। সেই ঝড়ে তোলপাড় হয় মানুষের সাবেক বেঁচেবর্তে থাকা। ব়্যাডক্লিভ লাইনের চকখড়ির দাগে রাষ্ট্র হুকুম জারি করেছে— দূর হটো; তফাত যাও। তুমি বিদেশি। তুমি অনুপ্রবেশকারী। অথচ, তারা কখনো কোথাও মাথা তুলে মানুষের সম্ভ্রম আদায় করতে চায়নি। তবু রাষ্ট্রের কাছে তারা ভয়াবহ ভাইরাস।
রাষ্ট্রবাদের সিম্বলগুলো যখন মানুষকে ছিন্নমূল করে দেয়, তখন তাদের খোঁজখবর কে আর রাখে? তারা কি সত্যিই মুছে যায় ইতিহাসের বিবর্ণ পৃষ্ঠার সঙ্গদোষে? মুছে দেওয়া যায়? ইতিহাস সাক্ষী সিএএ হোক কিংবা এনআরসি; হেরো মানুষের ধ্বংসকালীন সময়ে একটি অদৃশ্য আলপিনও রাষ্ট্রের বিরুদ্ধে ভয়ংকর এক আয়ুধ হয়ে ওঠে।
